Cell Wall Fragment Building Block Proteins for RNA and DNA . These cell wall fragments are the extremely long molecules that make up the chromosomes in every cell of our bodies, and that carry the genetic blueprint.
Nucleo-proteins are small organic molecules consisting of a five-ring sugar (which can be a ribose or a deoxyribose), a nitrogen base, and one to three phosphate groups.
The genetic information is carried out in DNA and is organised in genes.
The proteins in DNA and RNA differ in their five-carbon sugar. In DNA this is deoxyribose (hence the name deoxyribonucleic acid), while in RNA (ribonucleic acid) it is ribose.
There are four different nucleotides in DNA, which differ according to their nitrogen bases. These can be Adenine, Guanine, Thymine or Cytosine. The corresponding nucleotides are Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), Guanine triphosphate (GTP), CTP and TTP.
Adenine and Guanine are Purines, whereas Thymine and Cytosine are Pyrimidines.
RNA also uses Adenosine-, Guanine- and Cytosine-based nucleotides, but it uses a fifth nucleotide, Uracyl, instead of Thymidine
